What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy is focused on helping people recovering from injury or illness to regain the skills and movement needed to do everyday activities. Whether recovering from surgery, joint problems, head injury, stroke or other conditions – our fellowship-trained therapists and clinicians are here to help improve your quality of life.
Some of the day-to-day skills that occupational therapy can help patients recover include bathing, dressing, eating, cooking, driving and work skills, to name a few. We understand the importance that you and your loved ones place on regaining such everyday functioning so you can live a more fulfilling, healthier life.

Improve Everyday Life
Life is hard when you have problems with everyday activities like working, walking, preparing meals or even eating. Occupational therapy restores your ability to perform basic tasks – greatly improving your quality of life.
Avoid Surgery
In some cases, occupational therapy can help you avoid undergoing surgery. This is vital, as natural healing is almost always preferable to invasive surgery, which can lead to potential complications and health problems.
Prevent Falls
Falls are one of the major causes of injuries – but they can be prevented. Your therapist can assess your risk factors for falling and also prescribe specific exercises to increase your strength and stability to prevent falls.
Increase Flexibility
One of the keys to recovery and good overall health is increasing muscle and joint flexibility. Your therapist can prescribe stretching exercises, heat therapy or other techniques to loosen tight muscles and tendons.
Pain Relief
Occupational therapy can provide significant pain relief by educating you on how improper body positioning can cause pain. In addition, stretching techniques and specific exercises can improve movement and reduce pain.

Our occupational therapists can provide evaluations and treatments in settings ranging from our own clinics to other healthcare facilities, schools, workplaces, patient’s homes and more.
In addition, we offer guidance and education for family members and caregivers to support the patient throughout recovery.

I was referred here by my dentist for TMJ and I’m so glad I was! My jaw had been locked for 3 weeks and I was having debilitating pain and headaches. After just a few sessions with Andrew and Jackie I had more mobility and less pain. I’ve been going for a little over a month and my jaw is pretty much back to normal.
Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable.
They really are doing everything possible to get me back to health quickly.
Also when I started I felt broken and within weeks they identified the problem and fixed me. Wonderful!!!

I have been a patient at Elite Therapy Solutions in West Chester since October of 2023.
After experiencing a concussion and being referred for occupational and physical therapy, I landed at Elite!
Being able to receive both occupational and physical therapy in once place with the convenience of scheduling back to back appointments was one of the best things about my concussion recovery process. The ease of having both therapies in one location and the collaboration between therapists towards my goals played a big role in my progress.
Working closely with Mary for OT and Andrew and Jackie for PT, I was able to not only find coping strategies for the difficulties that accompany having a concussion, but also improve upon those areas and get back to my normal functioning. The team at Elite in West Chester had an invested interested in my recovery and made such a difficult situation less daunting. I truly looked forward to spending my afternoons in the office and am quite sad that I graduated from both OT and PT (although I am doing SO MUCH BETTER).
I worked with almost all of the therapists over the several months of treatment and was never disappointed. Each clinician showed genuine care and interest in my recovery process every step of the way. Even Amanda (front of office) was such a joy to interact with each visit!
Anyone who is lucky enough to work with the team at Elite West Chester will not be disappointed 🙂
